The Best Independent Coffee Shops in Horsham

horsham-coffee-roaster

With the return of Starbucks rumoured before the New Year and the expansion of Swan Walk recently announced, we have an excellent choice of eateries and great coffee shops right in the centre of Horsham.

At Horsham Blog, we wanted to take a look at some of our local and independent coffee shops. A few of these we’re known to frequent at lunch and they’re always friendly and relaxing for a caffeine break. Always happy to sit somewhere more unique than the big chains, here are our top picks:

Crates

Crates Local Produce delivers fresh, local food and drink to the Carfax with an artisan focus. Facing the bandstand is the main shop, through which you enter a delightful cafe with deli style food and cakes. The delicious coffee is of course local, from the Horsham Coffee Roaster and is truly a great option when you’re in town. The espresso has a deep, rich taste that is a personal favourite here at the Horsham Blog!

Head here for espressos, flat whites or simple black americanos and make use of the loyalty scheme as well to earn yourself a free coffee further down the line. Outside seating area as well for the warmer months of the year.

Carmela’s Deli

The deli option of the Italian Restaurant Carmela’s on Denne Road has been a big success since it opened in 2012 and brings the taste of Italy to our market town. Sit amongst fine Italian food produce as you warm up with a hot brew – the cappuccino is an excellent choice – and the menu is varied with paninis, calzones, pasta bakes and a range of meats and cheese.

The staff are always very friendly and it’s got an authentic Sicilian atmosphere where you can happily sit on your own or in a group.

Pretty Things

Pretty Things is a glamorous and beautifully decorated tea room and vintage shop in Park Place that’s well-known for homemade cakes and afternoon tea. Outside the pink storefront is welcoming with seating available in the courtyard and inside, the classic British wallpaper and accessories mean it’s a nice traditional place to enjoy an afternoon.

With seating available upstairs and booking available, it’s a relaxing and fun coffee shop and also offers a range of teas. Try the freshly baked warm scones if you get the chance…

Lottie’s Fayre

On the far end of the high street, opposite the Olive Branch pub, is Lottie’s Fayre. This traditional, family owned coffee shop offers a tantalising selection of homemade cakes, afternoon tea and light lunches. A look online shows many people calling this the best place for coffee in Horsham, and the style of the venue is certainly appealing.

Open for breakfast and lunch, perhaps you’ll meet Lottie herself if you get to make a visit. There’s also the option of takeaways and outdoor seating.
