For some January can feel like the worst time of the year, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Break the stereotype and turn it into a month full of positivity! Try something new, go somewhere new, do something for the community or just get out, let your hair down and enjoy a night of fun! Then take this positivity and apply it to February, March, April… you get the idea!

Try out an exercise class for free

Ditch those blues by signing up to a new exercise class! Exercise releases endorphins in your body which trigger a positive feeling, similar to that of morphine. Who knew exercise could make you feel so fantastic? Why not head down to Bluecoats just outside Horsham for their fun packed open day and try out a new activity?

There will be Body Pump, Indoor Cycling, Body Combat, Yoga, Dance and Body Balance classes for you to join for free. This could be just the way to brighten up your January and start 2017 on a high.

Their completely free open day is on 28th January, find out more here www.bluecoatsports.co.uk/blog/open-day-2017

Get out in the fresh air and enjoy a countryside walk

The weather at the moment is making everything glisten and look extremely wintry and picturesque. Why not get out in the very fresh air and enjoy a countryside walk in Horsham? We are lucky to have such stunning walks and beautiful landscapes in the local area.

If you’d like to follow a walk there are 14 self guided walks across the District, some in the town but most in the West Sussex Countryside. If you follow this link each of these walks can be downloaded and come with instructions and a map.

Volunteer in the local community

Why not start the year off on the right foot and do something which is guaranteed to give you that feel good factor. In Horsham there are many volunteering opportunities such as;

Horsham Activity Group – Dementia Support Volunteer
Alzheimer’s Org – Dementia Adviser Volunteer
British Heart Foundation – Telephone/Admin Volunteer
Age UK – Receptionist Volunteer

Volunteering is a great way of giving something back to the community and is sure to make you feel good about yourself. If you have a few hours spare each week and are willing to give up some time to help others, volunteers are hugely appreciated.
