The Green Man Pub

Although Horsham is known for its many restaurants both big and small, the District also has a really impressive range of pubs to be discovered. There are of course the main establishments in the town centre, such as The Anchor or B52’s, but we’ve found some really special gems for you hidden away in the nooks and crannies. Whatever time of the year, these little charms will give the whole family a place to relax and enjoy good food and drink.

The Wheatsheaf

A family owned traditional country pub located in a beautiful part of Horsham, Plummers Plain. They aim to be a quirky yet old fashioned English pub, to which they succeed. In the Summer, enjoy sparkling wine or a refreshing beer in the sunshine of their gardens, and in the Winter they boast two real open log fires to cosy up next to whilst enjoying a steaming hot dinner. With a brilliant and unique children’s area, this pub has everything for you and the family.

All year round they’re open from 11am-11pm Monday to Friday for drinks and freshly ground coffee, with set times for serving meals. The main meals that they offer range from Ham, Egg and Chips to Homemade Thai Style Fish Cakes, there really is a lot to choose from. The Wheatsheaf proves to be a go-to relaxation spot for any local Horsham-er, or a lovely place to stop off if you’re passing through.

The Greets Inn

Another family run pub in the area is The Greets Inn which has had many great reviews. They claim to use the finest Sussex produce wherever possible to create timely classics with a unique ‘Greets’ twist. With an eye-catching pink menu, the pub playfully names each section of its notch above pub food, which offers a selection of rich steaks and hot classic pies alongside fish dishes and decadent desserts.

The Green Man

The Green Man is tucked away in Partridge Green in West Sussex just off the A24. Owned by husband and wife Nick and Rebecca Illes, this family run Restaurant and Inn has a mission statement of offering ‘Outstanding food, served with a passion’. Nick has had years of experience as a celebrated Chef in many acclaimed restaurants before venturing to open The Green Man with Becky; and The Green Man itself has earned awards for “Hall and Woodhouse Best Front of House Team” and “Hall and Woodhouse Best Dining Experience” for three years running.

They’ve always got lots on offer as Nick always has daily specials on the blackboard, and a plethora of starters, mains, desserts and light lunches for you to choose from. They are definitely not your average pub, as they serve top notch meals from Warm Crab and Smoked Salmon Tartlets to Duck Leg Cassoulet. Get yourself a hot three course meal, or join them at the bar for their selection of wines and other alcoholic beverages. Why not pop down to see for yourself what all the fuss is about?
