Spotlight on the Horsham English Festival

Each year the Horsham English Festival grows and grows, taking the interest of  more of our residents and those in the surrounding areas. A nice tie-in with the popular French and Italian festivals like Piazza Italia, it focuses on English culture celebrating classic food and customs.

As it enters it’s ninth year, we take a look at what the event will involve this 8th May 2016 and why you should head to the town centre.

What’s on?

As with all Horsham events, the Carfax will be buzzing with stalls and entertainment throughout the day – starting at 10.am and running until around 4.pm.

A highlight will definitely be the morris dancers who will be hosting displays to music throughout the day, giving the event a colourful and traditional feel. Classic English cars will line the pavements and Horsham’s very own Folk Club will take to the bandstand to perform, with all collections raised going to Horsham Samaritans.

This year, organisers are bringing back the medieval produce markets and hog roast, which really sets the scene and handily sorts out your plans for lunch.

Family friendly

An ideal day out for family, there will be a mix of food and drink stalls serving classic treats and plenty to keep littles ones entertained. Perhaps they’ll even want to try their hand at morris dancing or sit in one of the classic cars? Just make sure they ask the exhibitor first!

There will also be additional live music organised by the Horsham District Council in the bandstand, which makes for a great meeting spot to take some time out in the sunshine and relax.

As we’ve proven time and time again, there’s nothing we like more than heading to town for a shop and an entertaining afternoon in the centre. As we look ahead there’s no doubt about the success of this event as it nears its 10th anniversary.
