Fantastic Art Events in Horsham this Summer

This summer there are so many arts and entertainment events happening in and around the Horsham area, celebrating various talents, for you to enjoy. We have collated just a few of the fabulous events that are coming up, so make sure you put the dates in your diaries!

Free Events

If you don’t want to break the bank but still want to get involved in some of the summer sessions, here are events to enjoy that are completely free.

Market Music at the bandstand, 8th July, Carfax

Up until August you can enjoy free concerts at the bandstand in the Carfax. Every Saturday at 11am there will be performances of Jazz, Brass and so much more.

Whatever your taste in music there will be something for you. You can download the programme here so you can keep up to date with all the details and some local talent at work..

Shipley Arts Festival at the George and Dragon, 11th July

As part of the Shipley Arts Festival, Simon and Jon of The George and Dragon are inviting everyone to the pub for an evening of live music, great food and drink, an art gallery and unbeatable company.

The event starts at 7:30pm on the 11th July, so clear your schedule and put it in the calendar. Entry to the event is free but it is advised that you book a table to avoid disappointment on the day.

The Human Nature Garden, 15th-16th July, Horsham Park

There are a variety of events taking place in The Human Nature Garden in Horsham park over the course of July, all free for everyone to enjoy.

  • Musical Mayhem – This is one for the kids. On Saturday 15th July there will be a free concert aimed at children, ideal for families to enjoy the sunshine.
  • The Tempest – At 6:30pm on the 15th July there will be production of the Shakespeare play produced by Clare Packham, consisting of students from String Academy and Horsham Performers Platform. It will all be in aid of The National Youth Arts Trust. The event will be free but donations to the trust are welcomed.
  • Jazz, Swing & Blues – A free concert full of jazz, swing and blues music on the 16th July at 1pm. Sounds great!

Paid Events

Alice in Wonderland, 15th June, The Capitol

On the 15th June at 2:30pm, the popular Ballet Theatre UK are coming to The Capitol to take you on a magical adventure with their version of Alice in Wonderland.

This piece by Christopher Moore will captivate you and is perfect for all ages. It’s bursting with humour and charm and if you’re a fan of the ballet, or Alice in Wonderland, you won’t want to miss this it.

Music for a Summer’s Evening, 16th June, Christ’s Hospital

Christ’s Hospital Choral Society present a programme that will include Elgar’s from the Bavarian Highlands and Rutter’s The Sprig of Thyme. The concert will take place in Christ’s Hospital Chapel on the 16th June at 7pm.

They also invite you to join them for a picnic in the quad before the concert begins, weather permitting. You can enjoy the performance for just £11 and all the money made from refreshments will go to the Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice.

Hairspray, from 21st June, The Capitol

Take a step back into the 80’s with Surrey Youth Music Theatre’s performance of the international smash hit musical Hairspray. Showing from the 21st to the 24th June at The Capitol, join ‘The Nicest Kids in Town’ for an evening of entertainment.

The Big Gig, 24th June, Horsham Sports Club

Free on the 24th June? There is no where else you should be than at The Big Gig at Horsham Sports Club. It’s going to be one of the biggest live music events of the year in Horsham with fantastic tribute acts coming together to put on a huge day of music and other festival activities.
